Retail Manager

Job Objective: To maximize sales and profit through continuous improvement of the studio and staff functionality and control the expenses and stock management.  Provide a friendly and efficient service environment for the customers and visitors. To be responsible for overall studio operations and motivate the staff to perform their job responsivities and maintain a respectful relationship with the staff and customers. Must be able to read and comprehend financial statements. Maintain oversight and supervising the offered classes and contracted instructors to continuously improve quality of the programs and classes. Help in the development and preparation of ceramic arts’ educational, promotional and production materials–catalogs, programs, and other graphics for publications and social media. Plan and coordinate special events, tours, and class programs. Partner with other Community Arts disciplines and community programs. 

Duties and responsibilities:

  • To greet and serve the customers and engage in the selling process.
  • To give detailed explanation on quality for process and services. Acknowledge and answer the customers’ concerns and inquiries and demonstrate how the process works  and use any samples to be demonstrated for better understanding. 
  • Inspect and care of ceramics related equipment and materials.
  • Ensure that a scheduled routine maintenance for studio equipment (kilns, vents/fans, etc. are performed regularly.  
  • Coordinate and implement the planning, presentation and/or promotion of specialized ceramics arts education classes and workshop programs in cooperation and coordinate with other staff, and volunteer groups; supervise and coordinate the activities of ceramics staff and volunteers; and perform related work as required. 
  • Assign and monitor the tasks to the staff to keep the studio in order, clean and maintained.
  • Keep an inventory of equipment, materials, and ceramics supplies for programs per budget and purchase as needed.
  • Oversee set-up and clean-up of studios/classroom/gallery space in the ceramic studio.
  • Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers, fellows, and student interns as needed.
  • Become involved in marketing initiatives, event management, social activities when required.
  • Taking part in and conducting other administration and operations activities.
  • Taking care of receiving, storing, maintaining, sorting, and displaying products.
  • Maintaining the hygiene of the retail facility and warehouse space.
  • Reception and display of goods and warehouse organization.
  • Understanding the latest fashion trends and arranging the sales area. 
  • Being competent in all aspects of work that needs to be done in the studio related to studio operations, services, and processes, including ringing in cash register.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work experience:

 

  • Fluent English (spoken and written).
  • Has management and/or supervisory experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Previous experience providing administrative and operational support.
  • Some experience in procedural obligations such as accounting, legal, risk, etc.

  • The salary for the position is 75,000 RSD with the possibility of a bonus of up to 20,000 RSD.
