System Engineer for the Cluster Operations team (m/f)
Location: Belgrade
Job Description:
Cluster Operations team supports the software, systems and operational processes needed for big data processing and service availability. We take care about data management, cluster dimensioning, AWS platform support, security and access rights.
Required skills:
- Creates and shares development estimates and operational requirements to enable accurate planning with realistic timelines
- Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems
- Suggesting software and architecture improvements
- Quality Assurance regarding functionality, usability, compatibility, reliability and performance of both software and hardware
- Live server monitoring, support and troubleshooting
- Collaborate in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications, and enhancements to existing applications
- Scripting deployment and monitoring routines
- Deploying software to Dev/Test/Stage/Production environments
- Working side by side with development and test teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues
- Participate in doing platform upgrades and migrations
- Troubleshooting environmental specific issues and ensuring SLA is met
- Uses your knowledge of technology and operational best practices to drive the design, development and implementation of operational standards and capabilities for connected services that enable highly available, scalable & reliable customer experiences
Qualifications:
- Successfully completed studies BSc or MSc degree in area of Computer science or Telecommunications, or equivalent documented working experience
- Any experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Amazon Web Services
- Debian, Centos, Ubuntu
- Ansible, Chef
- QA of provisioning or release processes
- TCP/IP based network protocols
- Knowledge in scripting (bash, shell, perl, python or similar)
- Linux/Windows based systems error analysis and troubleshooting
- Design of server delivery processes and plans
- Any experience of environment configuration, management or build automation
- It is plus to have knowledge in:
- Hadoop
- Cloudera
- Routing related protocols (Load-balancing, Round Robin )
- Mobile internet (EDGE, UMTS, HSPA, LTE)
- Windows features and troubleshooting
- LPIC certificates
- AWS certificates
- DB server administration
- Server OS live upgrades
- Virtualization
- NFS server administration
- Monitoring systems (Zabbix, Nagios, Munin, Cacti, OMD)
- A degree of willingness to travel
- Language: Very good English skills are essential
